AL in power to end graft: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said her party Awami League has come to power to change the fate of people by eradicating corruption and has been working to that end.
“Awami League has not returned to power to encourage corruption, but to eradicate the menace from the country,†she said.
Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, told the meeting of AL Central Working Committee (ALCWC) at her official residence Gono Bhaban.
Hasina said AL always worked for people; and they always reposed their confidence and trust in her party.
“This is our only asset… we have nothing else. We never rely on the gun and any other source,†she said.
Regarding the Human Rights Commission, Election Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Information Commission, Hasina said all these important bodies have been working independently.
“The ACC now can summon ministers and the advisers enjoying the status of ministers whenever its wants," she said.
“Was it possible during the previous government? Could the ACC dare to summon any minister?†she questioned.
The prime minister also claimed that her government has ensured everything to hold free, fair and credible polls.
