Proceedings of graft cases against Aman, Tuku adjourned
The special court yesterday adjourned the hearings of corruption cases against detained former state ministers Amanullah Aman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and his family on different pleas, court sources said.
When a court set up at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban for trying high-profile corruption suspects resumed, the counsel for Aman refrained from cross-examining the complainant of the case after he made his deposition.
The counsel, seeking adjournment, told the court that his client was waiting for High Court order on a petition for quashing the case.
The court adjourned the
hearing asked the counsel to submit the HC order in this regard by September 6.
On Aug 28, the court sentenced Aman to jail for evading payment of income tax on over Tk 1.51 crore.
Another special court adjourned the hearing of the corruption case facing former state minister for power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and his family, as their counsel informed the court that the HC had stayed the proceedings of the case following a petition for quashing the case.
The court asked the counsel to submit the HC order in this regard on September 5.
