Hossain Seraj, Magura

Sagor, the tea-boy-cum-chess-player from Magura, who finished runner-up in the 33rd National Junior Chess Championship (NJCC) in October, has been rewarded for his perseverance and talent. The talented chess player will have to worry about his living no more as he has been provided a job as a chess instructor at the Bright Future English Medium School and College established at west Agargaon in Dhaka. The owner of the school, Mushfiqur Rahman Mohan who also owns the Duranta Rajshahi cricket and chess teams, has also arranged free food and accommodation during Sagor's stay in Dhaka, apart from giving him a monthly salary of Tk 5000.
Mohan's gesture comes as a relief for the talented chess player who had been dividing his time between serving tea and chess back in Magura.
"I am grateful to Mushfiq sir as he not only provided me with a job, but also promised to bear all the expenses of my study and sports," Sagor said with gratefully.
"Apart from appointing me the captain of the six-member team of the Duranta Rajshahi Chess Academy which is to participate in the 1st division Chess League to be held in Dhaka from December 22,” Sagor informed.
Mushfiq came to know about the talent and needs of the poor Sagor through a report published in The Daily Star recently on October 16, Sagor said.
