Left parties want security during Puja
Some left-leaning parties of Bangladesh yesterday urged the government to take necessary steps to ensure security at the upcoming Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Hindu community.
They also said the government should provide its utmost support to the Buddhist and Hindu communities at Ramu, Ukhia, Teknaf and Patia in Cox's Bazar as their homes and temples were vandalised and torched about a week ago.
They were addressing a meeting held at the Workers Party Office in the capital yesterday.
They also asked the government to remain alert so that such incidents are not repeated.
