Poor sanitation cuts GDP growth
Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque yesterday said poor sanitation causes about 6.3 percent loss in the country's GDP, said a press release.
Safe water supply is one of the biggest challenges in combating disaster and government and NGOs must act in a coordinated manner to combat this challenge, the minister said.
He was addressing as a chief guest at a project-launching workshop on 'Ensuring Water & Sanitation Facilities towards Disaster Risk Reduction' held at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) and Concern Universal Bangladesh (CUB) jointly organised the workshop.
