Four killed, 33 injured in road crashes
Four people, including a livestock officer, were killed and at least 33 others injured in separate road accidents in Bagerhat, Dinajpur, Rangpur and Khagrachhari early Friday and yesterday.
Our Bagerhat correspondent reports: Bus helper Reazul Islam, 28, of Sharulia village in Moralganj upazila, died on the spot and at least 30 others were injured when the bus fell into a roadside ditch in Nabbairashi bus stand area at Moralganj upazila yesterday afternoon.
Of the injured, four were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
In Dinajpur, motorcyclist Khandakar Nurul Huda 33, a field officer of Livestock Department at Birganj, son of Khandakar Altaf Hossain of Tetulpara village in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh, was killed on the spot as a bus rammed his bike from behind on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway at Pachismail in Birganj upazila at around 11:00am yesterday.
Following the accident, locals blocked the highway for about three hours demanding a speed breaker on the spot.
In Rangpur, Fahim, 7, son of Tota Mian, was killed on the spot a speedy microbus ran over him while he was crossing the road at Betgari village in Mithapukur upazila on Friday afternoon.
In Khagrachhari, Mohammad Faruk Hossain, 45, son of late Kala Mia of Matiranga upazila, was killed on the spot and three others were injured when a passenger jeep fell into a roadside ditch at Adarshagram in the upazila at around 3:30pm yesterday.
The injured Nurul Amin, 35, Samsul Haque, 20, and Ashek Mia were admitted to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex.
