Sk Jamal take Pokhara Cup
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club lifted the inaugural Safal Pokhara Cup defeating Nepal Army 1-0 in the final at the Pokhara Stadium yesterday.
Sheikh Jamal's Nigerian recruit Yoko Samnick, one of their six foreigners, scored the only goal of the match in the injury time of the first-half of extra time.
The match was a keenly contested affair with the Dhanmondi side enjoying lion's share of possession, yet the regulation ninety minutes failed to produce any goal, forcing the match to extra time.
Just when it looked like the extra time would also end goalless, Yoko scored availing a pass from Tauhidul Alam Sabuj.
Yoko was named man-of-the-final. Sheikh Jamal received 250,000 rupees as prize money for winning the title.
This was the first overseas trophy for the revamped Club, after their Bangladesh League title in their maiden appearance.
