£311m support for health sector
The United Kingdom will provide 311 million pound to Bangladesh for development in the health sector for the next five years.
The assurance came when the visiting Parliamentary Under Secretary of the International Assistance Division of the UK Stephen O' Brien called on Health Minister Dr A F M Ruhal Haque at the latter's office in the city.
During the meeting, Brien expressed his country's eagerness to improve the nutrition level of the people of Bangladesh. “Improving nutrition status of the people in the country is a big challenge for Bangladesh,” he said and called upon the government to attach special importance to this issue.
The health minister told the British under secretary that the government had launched a programme to improve nutrition status of the poor people of the country. With the implementation of the project, the situation would improve in the country, he added.
