Unhappy BCL activists stop CU train
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Chittagong University (CU) unit yesterday halted a shuttle train and closed the main gate of CU for around an hour protesting “underrating” of its leaders by the central executive committee.
Only one CU BCL leader, Mohsin Karim Real, formerly the deputy secretary of finance, was awarded the post of vice-president in the central committee, declared on Monday.
Witnesses said students suffered as the train was halted for around 40 minutes around 12:30pm due to a procession of the activists entering the University Railway Station area after parading different points on the campus.
The activists then closed CU's main gate and staged a sit-in in front of it around 1:15pm.
Formerly three to five representatives of CU were always in the central committee, said CU BCL President Mamunul Hoque.
