'An anti-people decision'
Speakers in separate protest rallies in the city yesterday called upon the government to cut down the recent fuel price hike.
They also called upon the people to make a united movement against the government's anti-people decision.
Workers' Party of Bangladesh, Ganotantrik Bam Morcha and Bangladesh Jubo Moitree held the rallies, says press releases.
The government is playing an anti-people role through increasing fuel price as per the suggestion of World Bank and International Monetary Fund, speakers said.
People are already perplexed by the skyrocketed price of daily commodities and the newly imposed extra price of fuel is only adding to their misery, they said.
The rally of Workers' Party was chaired by its central committee General Secretary Anisur Rahman Mallik while Bam Morcha's rally was presided by its Convener Mosharefa Mishu and Jubo Moitree's rally was led by its Vice-President MA Sayeed.
