Police warn stock protesters against excesses
Police high-ups yesterday warned agitating investors not to do excesses through protests over falling stocks.
The law-enforcers said their protests over the continuous plunge in the market could pave the way for vested quarters to create anarchy.
The warning came as four leaders of Bangladesh Capital Market Investors Unity Council were called in to the police headquarters around 2pm by Additional Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque. A number of top police officials were also present.
According to a police official, the leaders of the Council were summoned as an intelligence report warned that vested quarters were trying to cash in on the protests to disturb law and order.
Officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police also reported to the police headquarters that they were facing difficulty maintaining law and order and ensuring smooth traffic due to continuous obstructions and protests by the stock agitators, causing public sufferings.
