Katha Lalitakala Academy turns 18

Katha Lalitakala Academy marked its 18th anniversary through honouring two noted singers -- Dalia Nausheen and Anup Bhattacharya -- and dancer Munmun Ahmed at a programme held on October 20 at National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The programme also featured discussion and performances.
Child artistes of the academy staged a dance performance that was followed by discussion and honouring the three seasoned artistes. Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman was the chief guest while member of planning commission Masud Ahmed, Language Movement veteran M.A. Jalil and noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Shaheen Samad were the special guests at the programme.
Academy president Mohammad Shamsuzzaman presided over the programme. The honoured artistes expressed their gratitude to the organisers.
Following several choruses and group dance performances, Soma Das, Reshma, Sumaiya, Shelley, Joyee, Tasmi, Roza, Tabassum, Sarathi, Prema, Aboni, Rupa, Anima, Tasphia and Sanjana performed solo at the cultural programme.
