Third death anniversary of Bazlur Rahman today
Today is the third death anniversary of Bazlur Rahman, one of the country's most prominent journalists, freedom fighter and editor of the daily Sangbad.
Different organisations took various programmes to observe the day.
His family, Bazlur Rahman Foundation and other organisations will lay wreaths at his grave at Mirpur Martyed Intellectuals' Graveyard at 9:00am.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, wife of Bazlur Rahman, will hand over a check of Tk 1 lakh and his clothes to Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed authorities at 11:00am.
A doa mahfil will also be held at Nakla orphanage at his Sherpur village after Asr prayers.
Bazlur Rahman died in 2008 at the age of 67. He graduated from the economics department of Dhaka University and earned acclaim for writing regular articles on economy and different sectors of journalism.
Bazlur Rahman was born to Abdur Rahman and Raisunnesa in Char Niamat village of Fulpur upazila in Mymensingh on August 3, 1941.
He spent a significant period of time working for Bangla newspaper Ekota. He actively participated in the Six Point Movement, Mass Uprising of '69, War of Liberation in 1971, movement against the military regime after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the autocratic regime of HM Ershad.
