'Form medical board for treatment of Hasina'
Three hundred and eight physicians yesterday expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of detained former prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina.
They urged the caretaker government to form a medical board comprising specialist physicians for the treatment of ailing Hasina.
It is clear from the statement of Hasina's personal physician that her life is at risk, said the doctors in a joint statement.
They also called on the government to send Hasina abroad for better treatment if the medical board recommends doing so.
The signatories to the statement include Prof AFM Ruhul Haque, Prof Mahmud Hasan, Prof Abu Shafi Ahmed Amin, M Iqbal Aslan, Ali Asgar Morol and Kamrul Hasan Khan.
In another statement, some 40 eminent citizens also expressed concern over the present health condition of Hasina.
They urged the government to release her immediately and take steps for her proper treatment.
The signatories to the statement include Prof Kabir Chowdhury, artist Qayyum Chowdhury, Prof Anisuzzaman, Syed Shamsul Hoque, Kamal Lohani, Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Prof RIM Aminur Rashid, Nirmalendu Gun, Iqbal Sobhan Chowhdury, Dr Abul Barakat, Nasiruddin Yusuf and artist Hashem Khan.
