Expand activities in Bangladesh
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged Chevron, US-based international oil company, to expand its activities in Bangladesh.
Hasina made the call when President of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company James R Blackwell called on her at the PM's office. US Ambassador James F Moriarty accompanied the Chevron president.
The prime minister said her government is very sincere to provide all out cooperation to the private sector to make investment in the country as her previous government did.
“We always want to develop the economic status of our people and country,” she said.
She said the investment from home and abroad would expedite the economic development in the country. She also mentioned that her government has always provided all sorts of assistance to the investors, both local and foreign, to boost the economy.
During the meeting James R Blackwell praised the capable leadership of the prime minister and expressed his satisfaction over the friendly investment atmosphere in Bangladesh.
Ambassador at large M Ziauddin, PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzaman and PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad were present at the meeting.
