Book on history of Mitford Hospital, Dhaka Medical School launched
The publication ceremony of a research-based book titled 'Mitford Hospital and Dhaka Medical School: History and Heritage, 1858-1947' by noted urban historian Dr Sharif Uddin Ahmed was held in the city yesterday.
Former adviser to the caretaker government Dr Akbar Ali Khan launched the book as the chief guest at the ceremony held at National Museum auditorium, organised by Academic Press and Publishers Library (APPL).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Akbar Ali Khan appreciated the work of Dr Sharif, saying that he has sincerely presented the history of medical education in East Bengal.
Prof Dr Ahmed Kamal, chairman of history department, DU, said the book contains rare geographical maps and curriculum of medical college of that time and it would facilitate further research works.
Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelly, chairman of APPL, presided over the function addressed by Prof Abdul Momin Chowdhury, former vice chancellor of National University, Prof Nazrul Islam, chairman of University Grants Commission, and Shahina Rahman, managing director of APPL.
