The World Economic Forum (WEF) has invited Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed to its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, between January 23 and 27, the first time the forum has invited the head of government from Bangladesh.
Executive Chairman of WEF Klaus Schwab sent an invitation letter to Fakhruddin Ahmed recently asking him to join this year's meeting on "Power of Collaborative Innovation".
Sources say the chief adviser is being invited because the global community is taking an interest in Bangladesh's present political and economic situation.
Previously both Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh attended the Forum.
This year's summit will focus on five pillars, which are competing and collaborating, addressing economic insecurity, aligning interests across divides, exploring nature's new frontiers and understanding future shifts.
