BNP leader killed in Jessore
Unknown criminals hacked a local BNP leader to death in Jessore Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Anarul Islam, 40, of Sajiali village under sadar upazila who is also the vice president of Churamonkhati word BNP.
Locals said 13 to 15 criminals attacked Anarul around 8:00pm with sharp weapons when he was returning home. They hacked him indiscriminately and fled the spot, very close to his house leaving him seriously injured.
Hearing his screams locals and family members rushed to the spot and took him to Jessore General Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
His family members alleged that a local gang lead by Laltu, who was loyal to Awami League, committed the murder.
District BNP leaders and activists brought out a procession in protest of the killing soon after the incident.
Locals said Anaruls two brothers were also killed by the unknown assailants in the past.
