Book reading festival in Sylhet
The fourth Book Reading Festival organised by the Swajon Samabesh, began in Sylhet recently.
Sylhet city Corporation mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran; film actor Faruque and Jugantor Sylhet Bureau chief were guests of honour at the inaugural function held at the Sylhet central Shaheed Minar.
The event organised for the fourth time earned much appreciation from the commoners. It is a book reading competition for the intermediate and graduation level students aiming to encourage them for study on the Liberation War.
Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industries administrator Faruque Mahmud Chowdhury, renowned singer Rana Kumar Sinha, cultural activist Niranjan Dey Zadu, and Innovator's chief coordinator Pranab Kanti Dev and Sirajul Islam Abed of the Daily Jugantor's Swajon Samabesh also addressed the function while Swajan Samabesh's divisional chief Mehedi Kabul chaired.
Over 300 students of different colleges and universities of the region participated in the festival. Each of them was handed over with a copy “Talash”, a novel by Shahin Akhtar on the Liberation War.
