Modernise varsity curricula to compete in int'l arena
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a workshop yesterday said curriculums of the universities should be modernised to compete in the international arena of knowledge.
The inventions by the students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) should be utilised by the industries, he said, adding that a strong link between the two be created for that.
The minister said this at the inaugural ceremony of EUProw-2009, a project workshop of the undergraduate students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department, at Buet auditorium.
University teachers and industrialists also stressed the need to establish a link between the universities and the industries to make proper use of the inventions.
Nahid said industries should finance in the researches of the students for new inventions which they could use in their industries.
He said the workshop would help industries and the university to build some kind of link by which the industrialists would be able to pick some projects for their industries.
Speaking as the special guest, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Ministry Rashed Khan Menon said there is no meaning of knowledge if those were not implemented in the practical life.
Buet Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof AMM Shafiullah and Pro-VC Prof Muhammad Habibur Rahman also spoke at the programme presided over by Chairman of EEE department Prof Aminul Haque.
A total of 47 projects are being exhibited at the workshop which would conclude on October 23.
