Wasa to buy 200 generators
Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) will buy 200 electric generators with its own funds to keep smooth supply of water during the next dry season.
The generators will be purchased at a cost of Tk 54 crore.
This was disclosed at an evaluation meeting on the progress of the ongoing projects undertaken by the local government under 2009-10 annual development programme (ADP) at LGRD ministry yesterday.
State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak presided the meeting where Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Badruddin Ahmed Kamran and LGRD Secretary Md Manjur Hossain were present.
The meeting was also informed that 4,000 sources of water would be set up at Aila-affected areas with the assistance of World Bank.
Nanak called for coordination among Wasa, DCC, Desa and Titas Gas to reduce sufferings of the city dwellers as well as to improve their living standards.
