EC sues 52 upazila poll candidates in B'baria

Fifty-two candidates for the posts of upazila parishad chairman, vice-chairman and woman vice-chairman in seven upazilas of Brahmanbaria district have been sued for not submitting election expenditure reports to the returning officers concerned in time.
Of them, 29 contested for chairman posts, 18 for vice-chairman posts and 5 for woman vice-chairman posts.
Returning Officer Noor Muhammad Majumder, also the additional deputy commissioner (ADC-general), filed the case with Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station on Monday.
The sued chairman candidates are Yusuf Hossain of Nasirnagar upazila, Farhad Rahman and Md Tajul Islam of Sarail upazila, Abu Asif Amed, Fazlul Karim, Md Kamruzzaman Ansari and Suhas Das Chawdhury of Ashuganj upazila, Khandaker Mohammad Billal Hossain, Nazrul Haque, Md Belal Uddin Sarker, Md Monir Hossain, and Md Salim Bhuiyan of Akhaura upazila, Md Emran Ali of Kasba upazila, AKM Jasimuddin, ATM Abdulla, Kazi Zahir Uddin Siddiqui, Muhammad Humayun Kabir, Abdur Rauf, SM Yusuf, Muhammad Maniruzzaman, Muhammad Mustak Ahmed, Md Abdul Haque, Md Abu Sayid, Md Gulam Shahriar, Md Malay Mia, Md Sukkur Khan and Helaluddin Bhuiyan of Nabinagar upazila, and SM Alam and Sheikh Azizul Islam of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.
The vice-chairman candidates are Monir, Md Naim Chawdhury, Salim Pervez, Alhaj Mujibur Raman Sarker and Md Jalaluddin Ahmed of Ashuganj upazila, Md Akter Hossain, Md Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, Md Babul Pervez and Md Monir Khan of Akhaura upazila, Kazi Md Sirajul Islam and Md Sanaullah of Kasba uazila and Buran Uddin Ahmed, Md Khurshedul Islam, Golam Hossain Khan Titu, Golam Kibria, Md Musharraf Hossain Sarker, Md Samsul Alam and Md Safiqul Islam of Nabinagar upazila.
The woman vice-chairman candidates are Samima Akhter of Nasirnagar upazila, Rahima Begum of Ashuganj upazila, and Asma Begum, Swapnaher Akhter and Renuara Selim of Nabinagar upazila.
