Top outlaw beaten to death
A top cadre of Janajuddho faction of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) was beaten to death at Sarishadanga Bazar in sadar upazila of Chuadanga on Sunday night.
The deceased, Nizam uddin, alias Kosai Nizam, 40, was from Joragachha in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga.
Police said Nizam and his gang went to Sarishadanga Bazar at about 9:30pm to collect the money he had demanded from local businessmen.
Businessmen, prepared to confront the gang, confined him in a shop and beat him dead.
Nizam's accomplices, however, managed to escape.
Alamdanga police rushed to the spot, recovered Nizam's body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
They also recovered a locally made gun with two bullets from the spot.
Nizam was accused in nine cases including four murders filed with Alamdanga and sadar police stations.
