Musical soiree by War Crimes Facts Finding Committee

War Crimes Fact Finding Committee (WCFFC), an organisation based in the city, held a musical soiree, titled “Shesh Belar Aalo” at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum on November 23.

Six artistes performed 22 songs throughout the evening. Dr. Zakia Mahfuza Hasan rendered three Tagore songs -- “Tobu mon-e rekho”, “Amaye chho'jonaye miley poth dekhaye” and “Du'joney dekha holo” along with two 'adhunik' songs. Other artistes -- Dr. M.A. Hasan, Dipu Muhammad, Nadia, Bindia and Biplob -- performed songs on the Liberation War, patriotism, nature, love and humanism written by Dr. M.A. Hasan. Dr. Hasan and Dipu Muhammad composed the songs.

Dr. M.A. Hasan rendered “Nomro koro hey trishnaye”, “Ami jiggashilam etodin”, “Janmo janmantorey ami robo”; Dipu Muhammad performed “Ekattur-er ghor chhara je chheleti”, “Manusher majhey ami”, “Ei to shedin smritir”; Nadia sang “Jogini momo hridi paddo shomo”; Bindia rendered “Tomakey chhunyechhi tomatey” and Biplob sang “Amra Porabhob mani na”.

Backing up the singers were instrumentalists Mrinal Kanti Sarkar ('tabla'), Biplob Sarkar (keyboard), Dipon Sarkar (guitar), Hasan ('banshi'), Kamal (violin) and Mithu (octapad).

Prior to the renditions, Dr. Hasan, who is also the convenor of WCFFC, elaborately discussed on music.
