N'ganj AL Office Attack

Salam Pintu shown arrested

Detained former deputy minister and BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu was shown arrested in connection with the bomb attack on the Awami League office at Chasara in Narayanganj in 2001.

Investigation officer of the case Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusuf Ali Mollah said Pintu has been shown arrested in the case on November 10.

CID also sought a 10-day remand for Pintu and the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court of Narayanganj fixed November 15 for the hearing.

Pintu is now arrested in connection with the August 21 grenade attack case.

Harkatul Jihad chief Mufti Abdul Hannan and Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Ward Commissioner Ariful Islam Arif were also shown arrested in the case and they were taken on remand on several times.

The bomb attack on the Awami League office took place on June 16 in 2001 that left 20 people dead and a number of people, including former AL lawmaker Shamim Osman, injured.
