Tribunal starts functioning in 2 months

State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam yesterday said the War Crimes Tribunal will be set up at the Administrative Tribunal Building at Abdul Gani Road, close to the secretariat, and the trial will start in next two months.

Appointment of a body to probe war crimes and also the prosecutors for the trial will be made by the time.

He said the existing Administrative Tribunal will be shifted to the Janata Tower Building at Karwan Bazar from Abdul Gani Road.

State Minister for Public Works and Housing Abdul Mannan Khan accompanied Quamrul when he visited the two buildings.

Quamrul also said parliament has already taken resolution for the war crime trial and the government allocated Tk 10 crore in the budget for it.

"Steps are being taken to form an internationally accepted tribunal to hold the trial of war crimes," he said.
