Road crashes kill 3

Three people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Narail, Dinajpur and Gopalganj yesterday.

A correspondent in Narail reports: One person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on Narail-Jessore road in Rupganj area in Narail yesterday.

The dead was identified as Daud Bhuiyan, 62, of Bhoakhali village under Narail municipality.

Locals and police said the accident occurred around 11.30am when a Narail-bound speeding motorcycle hit Daud's van, leaving him dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured were treated at Narail Sadar Hospital.

Our correspondent in Dinajpur adds: At least one person was killed and four more were injured in a road accident as a truck turned turtle while carrying them at Birampur upazila in the district yesterday.

Adar Ali, 28, son of Abdus Sattar of Saidpur upazila under Nilphamari district, died on the spot.

The injured passengers were Saifur Rahman, 35, Rup Chand, 30, Hafizur Rahman, 26, and Jahangir Alam and hailed from Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur. They were rushed to Birampur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Police, quoting witnesses, said five persons were boarded on a Dinajpur-bound truck from Tangail. But the driver lost control of the vehicle in his attempt to save two buffalos at Bijormore on the Birampur-Dinajpur highway.

Staff Correspondent adds: A minor boy was killed in a road accident near Fukra bus stand at Kashiani in Gopalganj yesterday.

The dead was identified as Rajib Sharif, 8, son of Edris Sharif of Fukra village.

The accident occurred as a private car ran over him.
