Internal feud in Magura BNP remains unresolved as district unit Convener Kabir Murad, who is leading a faction, did not attend the meeting convened by the central committee at party's Nayapaltan office on Wednesday.
Though the leaders of the another faction led by district unit Joint Convener advocate Mokaddes Hossain attended the meeting, the central leaders could not take any decision to settle the internal conflict in absence of Murad.
The central committee will again summon the top leaders of both factions to Dhaka to put an end to their conflict, sources in the district unit said.
“We attended the scheduled meeting in the capital and urged the joint secretary generals Selima Rahman and Barkatullah Bulu to remove Kabir Murad from the post of district convener for his anti-party activities,” said advocate Mokaddes Hossain.
Intra-party feud in Magura BNP surfaced after formation of the district convening committee with Kabir Murad as convener.
The conflict has deepened following expulsion of Mohammadpur upazila BNP Joint Convener Akhteruzzaman on November 1 and issuance of show cause notices on two joint conveners of Sreepur upazila BNP-- Golam Mustafa and Sanat Kumar-- on November 2 by Kabir Murad alleging their involvement in anti-party activities. The three belong to the faction led by advocate Mokaddes Hossain.
Mohammadpur upazila BNP leaders Akhteruzzaman and Matiur Rahman at a meeting at upazila headquarters on October 10 accused Kabir Murad of forming “pocket committees” at upazila and union levels and demanded his removal from the post of district convener.
Mokaddes faction held an extended meeting at BNP office in the town on October 24 and declared convener Kabir Murad 'unwanted' in the district.
