An activist of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) was kidnapped on Friday night allegedly by the armed cadres of anti-peace treaty United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) from his house at Uluchhari in the town.
The abducted man was identified as Shukkra Sen Chakma,35, son of Chitra Mohon Chakma.
Locals said, a gang numbering about seven and led by Sunendu Chakma, a leader of UPDF, raided the house of Shukkra Sen at about 10 pm and picked him up at gun point.
Bodhi Satta Chakma, secretary of PCJSS Rangamati district unit, yesterday condemned the UPDF action and demanded immediate release of their 'supporter'.
Shantideb Chakma, Rangamati district unit leader of UPDF, yesterday brushed aside the allegation of PCJSS saying UPDF does not believe in abduction and killing.
The abducted was not freed till filing of this report at 5 pm yesterday.
Contacted, Kotwali police station officer in-charge (OC) Babul Uddin Sarder said, nobody came to the police station to lodge any complaint in connection with the abduction.
