Two alleged cadres of Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested with arms on Wednesday night in Jessore while three other militants were remanded in Khagrachhari yesterday.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive on Wednesday night, arrested two JMB cadres along with two pistols at Navaran on Jessore-Benapole road in Sharsha upazila.
According to UNB, the arrestees are Shimul, 26, son of Yakub Ali of Natadigha para and Sultan, 42, son of Abul Khayer of Raghunathpur in the upazila.
Acting on tip-off, a team of Rab-6 raided a passenger bus at about 8pm and arrested them along with the pistols.
Our Correspondent in Khagrachhari reports: The Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday granted four days fresh remand for three JMB members including the outfit's second-in-command in Chittagong division Mohammad Abdur Rahim alias Zahid alias Saifullah.
The court passed the order after the Investigation Officer (IO) sought eight days' remand for the militants.
The court also fixed November 18 for next hearing in the case.
Besides, Saifullah,25, two other JMB men are Delwar Hossain, 40, and Mohammad Yunus Miah, 20.
Investigation Officer and officer-in-charge (OC) of Matiranga police station Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said the militants will be remanded after consultation with the Rab officials.
Earlier on September 29, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Md Saifuzzaman Hero granted seven days remand for the accused, sources said.
Rab arrested the three at Shantipur under Matiranga upazila of the district on September 25.
