PM flies to Trinidad tonight

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaves here Wednesday night for Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago in South America, on a six-day official visit to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II will open the CHOGM on November 27 at the Cultural Centre in Port of Spain.

Hasina will be among 52 leaders attending the summit, including Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

She will lead a high profile Bangladesh delegation to the CHOGM.

The PM will leave Dhaka by an Emirates flight at night and head for Port of Spain via Dubai and London.

The premier's entourage includes Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Ambassador M Ziauddin, Foreign Secretary Md Mijarul Quayes, Bangladesh High Commissioner in London M Saidur Rahman Khan and PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad.

Apart from attending the inaugural function of CHOGM at National Academy for Performing Arts, the Bangladesh premier is expected to hold a meeting with her counterpart and attend a lunch.

Besides, she will attend a dinner to be hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and a joint reception to be accorded to her by prime minister of the host country and the commonwealth secretary general.

During her six-day tour, Hasina is expected to visit Bangladesh Trade Centre and enjoy a T20 cricket match there.

The PM will leave the Caribbean county on December 2 for Dhaka via London and Dubai.

She is expected to return home on December 4.
