HC stays DU's new admission rules

The High Court on Tuesday stayed for four months the Dhaka University's new admission rules that disqualify madrasa students from admitting to the university's six departments.

The departments are--economics, english, mass communications and journalism, international relations, women and gender studies and linguistics.

The court also issued a rule upon the DU authorities to explain within four weeks why these admission conditions should not be declared illegal.

The HC bench comprising Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury came up with the order upon a writ petition filed by five DU admission seekers.
