2,800 pharmacies observe strike in capital, Ctg

Bangladesh Chemists and Druggists Association (BCDA) on Saturday enforced a five-hour strike in two wholesale markets of medicines in the capital and Chittagong in protest against seizure of huge medicines from a drug house in the port city.

Around 2,500 pharmacies in Mitford area in Old Dhaka while over 300 drug houses at a market at KC Dey road in Chittagong city kept their shutters down from 9:00am today.

The drug shops in Dhaka and Chittagong were opened at about 2:00pm.

Earlier on Wednesday night, a team of Rab conducted a raid at ‘Popular Medicine House’ in the city’s Hajari Lane area and seized drugs worth over Tk 20 lakh.

BCDA sources said they opened their shops considering the immense sufferings of the patients.
