Matia criticises WB for delaying funds

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Wednesday criticised the role of World Bank for it's long-delayed funding for different development projects in Bangladesh.

The minister was addressing a seminar on the use of genetic engineering in developing stress tolerance crops at the Centre of Excellence auditorium in Dhaka University(DU).

The Department of Microbiology and Department of Biochemistry organised the seminar.

Matia also expressed her doubt about World Bank's intention whether it wants to assist in the country's research works.

The agriculture minister also blasted WB for their process in appointing consultants in various projects.

She called on the researchers to conduct more research using the country's limited resources.
