OIC Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office. Photo: PIDPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday sought assistance from the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to fight the impact of climate change in Bangladesh.
The premier made the call as the OIC Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu paid a courtesy call on her at the Prime Minister's Office at about 10:30am.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina said her government is tackling the impact of climate change with its limited resources.
The OIC secretary general appreciated Bangladesh government's efforts to tackle the impact of global climate change.
Ihsanoglu said the OIC is working to improve the education, technology, trade and socio economic infrastructures among its member countries.
He congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her party's landslide victory in the ninth parliamentary election.
Earlier this morning, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu arrived Dhaka on a three-day visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.
During the visit from November 3-5, the secretary general will hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of Bangladesh including the president and other high-ranking government officials
Ihsanoglu will pay a visit to the Islamic Foundation and attend the 23rd convocation ceremony of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), which is a subsidiary organ of the OIC.
He is also expected to visit Dhaka University and deliver a keynote speech entitled 'OIC's Vision Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century' at a seminar.
