'Govt does not feel to recognise Kosovo now'

Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes today said the government did not need the necessity to recognise Kosovo at his moment, two days after the US ambassador met Foreign Minister Dipu Moni in this regard.

"At this moment, we don't feel the necessity to recognise Kosovo," Mijarul told reporters at a press briefing at the foreign ministry.

On August 20, US Ambassador James Moriarty again requested Bangladesh to recognise the independence of Kosovo as soon as possible.

He also said 62 countries have already recognised this Balkan state.
