Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda today advised Bangladesh to go for developing cooperation with India and Nepal on transport and energy sectors.

“Regional integration on transport and power will substantially benefit the South Asian countries,” Kuroda told reporters at a press conference at Sonargaon Hotel.

The Manila-based ADB boss who came on Wednesday for a two-day visit also viewed that a regional power grid could be popular among the nations.

He said the ADB has long been pushing for South Asian cooperation, but there was no significant progress yet.

“Many discussions were held, but so far very few investment projects have been implemented in the region,” said Haruhiko Kuroda.

He is however upbeat that thing would change in the future.

The ADB president cited example of South East Asia region that benefited from successful regional integration.

“China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar have implemented many regional projects on transport, energy, communication and water management and become benefited,” he said.
