Natore Swechchhasebak League leader stabbed dead
An upazila-level leader of Swechchhasebak League was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants in Lalpur upazila of Natore early today.
Ashraf Ali, 45, a resident of Boro Beelshalia village, was religious affairs secretary of the ruling Awami League's voluntary organisation of Lalpur upazila unit, reports our Natore correspondent.
Informed by locals, police recovered the body around 9:00am, Abdul Hai Talukder, officer-in-charge of the Lalpur Police Station, told the correspondent.
Quoting party activists, Ishaq Ali, secretary of Lalpur upazila unit of ruling Awami League, told the correspondent that local BNP men Quamrul, Titu, Jeker, Anarul and Kalu stabbed Ashraful to death at Kachua around 1:00am.
Denying the allegation, Aminul Haque, BNP secretary of Natore district unit, said a mob killed Ashraful when he went to commit robbery at Kachua village.
Police got some clues behind the murder but could not disclose those for the sake of investigation, the OC said.
