Left to ruin

The artificial turf that once graced the walls below the giant LED display in the capital's Shahbagh is now falling apart. Some people also strip away parts of the expensive turf set up by Dhaka South City Corporation as part of a beautification process. No one seems to be in-charge of the decorations, leaving it to fall into disrepair. Photo: Anisur Rahman

unusable bench

This bench for pedestrians opposite the TNT colony gate in the capital's Fakirapool has become almost unusable with more than half of it already gone. Weary citizens somehow find a way to sit on it, but the broken parts pose a hazard with metal bars jutting out. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Palash Khan
