Disfigured sculptures are all that remains of the beautification installations set up in Chittagong city ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup-2011 and renovated before the T20 World Cup-2014. The situation resulted from the Chittagong City Corporation's utter neglect to maintaining the installations, which also include fountains and tiger statues, for the last one year. The chief executive officer of CCC, Kazi Mohammad Shafiul Alam, however, said they were considering renovating those ahead of Australian cricket team's visit to Bangladesh, scheduled for early October, but if the tour was cancelled they would have another plan. The photo was taken at Nimtala Intersection recently. Photo: Anurup Kanti Das
