Muktis crush Ctg Abahani
After two successive defeats, Muktijoddha Sangsad returned to winning ways in the Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier League with a massive 6-0 win over Chittagong Abahani in their first home match at the Sheikh Moni Football Stadium in Gopalganj yesterday.
Nigerian striking duo of Sunday Chizuba and Eleta Kingsley struck a treble each against the opponents they defeated 2-0 in their first meeting at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Their sixth win in 14 matches saw the Federation Cup runners-up remain at fifth spot with 21 points while Chittagong Abahani, with nine defeats in 15 matches, remained at the bottom of the 10-team table with eight points.
Muktijoddha Sangsad took just 16 minutes to go ahead with a strike from Sunday before Kingsley struck twice within three minutes in the 39th and 42nd minutes to establish full control on the one-sided match.
Sunday widened the margin four minutes into the second half before Kingsley completed his treble -- the league's sixth hat-trick -- in the 76th minute, while Sunday followed his compatriot to strike his hat-trick 10 minutes from time.
