MPs, families, JS officials to get new stickers for vehicles
Three new vehicle stickers will be issued for lawmakers, their families and Jatiya Sangsad officials to check rampant misuse of the existing ones and allow owners to be easily identified, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury informed the House yesterday.
Each lawmaker will be issued one holographic sticker containing a security code and his/her vehicle's registration number while the respective family another of a different colour, she said.
Even domestic helps of lawmakers are using the existing stickers while forged copies have been found in the capital's Nilkhet, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told the House on Wednesday.
Yesterday, the lone lawmaker from Bangladesh Nationalist Front, SM Abul Kalam Azad, raised the issue. Afterwards, Awami League lawmaker Abdul Matin Khasru strongly demanded that the government immediately rehabilitate financially insolvent people falling victim to arson attacks during the ongoing blockade of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
He termed the blockade a criminal offense against the state and suggested taking legal action against BNP.
