Moudud, Mahbub free to walk out of jail
The High Court today granted bail to BNP leaders Moudud Ahmed and Khandaker Mahbub Hossain in two separate cases.
Now, there are no legal bar to the their release from jail as the leaders have secured bail in all the cases filed against them, AKM Ehsanur Rahman, a counsel for the BNP leaders, told The Daily Star.
The HC also issued two separate rules upon the government to explain why the BNP leaders should not granted regular bail in these cases.
Both the leaders will remain on bail until disposal of the rules, the bench said.
The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed today granted ad interim bail to Moudud in a corruption case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission.
The ACC lodge the case on December 17 last year on charge of grabbing an abandoned public property at Gulshan in the capital.
On the other hand, Hossain was granted the bail in a case filed with Ramna Police Station on March 2 last year on charges of blasting bomb, arson attack and preventing police from discharging duties during an anti-government demonstration of the 18-party combine alliance (now 19-party combine alliance).
So far, Moudud was shown arrested in total six cases while Hossain in two cases.
