Moudud, Abbas among 41 indicted for violence
A Dhaka court this morning indicted BNP Standing Committee members Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Ababs and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and 38 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party political alliance for violence during an anti-government protest last year.
Their trial will begin on October 12, the court ordered.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan took the decision.
Police filed the case with Paltan Police Station for vandalism, arson and assault on them during demonstration at Paltan in the capital, Dhaka, on March 6 last year.
Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed, now on bail, was present during the indictment along with 25 other leaders and activists. Others are currently on the run.
