'Morale is good'
For Zimbabwe, the tour seems to be getting worse as the days pass by. In addition to the 3-0 Test whitewash, they were on Wednesday humbled by a BCB XI in the one-day practice match, which they lost by 88 runs.
Their batsmen have just not stepped up at the right time in the series so far.
Regardless of the issues though, Zimbabwe's ODI captain Elton Chigumbura reckoned that the visitors could put in a better fight in the limited-overs series.
"The team morale is good. New guys from Zimbabwe joined us two days ago and they can't wait for the first game tomorrow. They are still fresh. Also it's a new version and everyone is looking forward to a fresh start," Chigumbura told reporters in Chittagong yesterday.
"I know the Test matches did not go the way we wanted them to, but that's past. We now have to focus on the five games coming up," he added.
Zimbabwe have a much better record in the 50-over format. The last four tournaments they participated in saw them beat the likes of Pakistan and Australia. Chigumbura hoped that the visitors could be inspired by their previous performances.
"The guys are capable of producing good results in the one-day format. We play more one-day cricket than Tests. This series is a big chance, since we are so close to the World Cup," Chigumbura claimed.
Soloman Mire and Peter Moore are the two uncapped players in the side and they both are expected to make their debuts.
"Mire is based in Australia. He is a good all-rounder and can hit the ball far. Moore is another batsman who has shown promise back home. They will be looking forward to scoring some runs here," said Chigumbura.
