The city's low-lying parts including -- Bakolia, Bahaddarhat, Kapasgola, Halishahar, and CDA residential area -- went underwater due to continuous downpour from last night causing immense sufferings to the people living in those areas.
The water clog worsened as the monsoon and high tide started together, said Shafiqul Mannan Siddiki, chief conservancy officer of Chittagong City Corporation.
Motor vehicles were hardly seen in those areas while rickshaws were seen plying the roads in a small number.
Commuters had to suffer crossing filthy and clogged water, to reach their destination.
