Mob kills 2 robbers in Mymensingh
Two suspected robbers were beaten to death by a mob while another was seriously injured in Mymensingh early today.
One of the deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 45, son of Muslem Uddin of Kurshanagar village in Trishal upazila of the district, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
A gang of robbers looted different shops at Kadom Rasulpur, Barar Moor and Charani Bazar in Gafargaon during the early hours of today and were fleeing the scene with a truck.
As they reached on Sutia Bridge, which links Gafargoan with Bhaluka upazila, around 3:00am, locals intercepted the truck at Shantiganj Bazar in Bhaluka.
They managed to caught two robbers and gave them a good beating, leaving Saiful dead on the spot
Another bandit whose name could not be known immediately ran for life but villagers chased and caught him at Shibganj in Gafargaon, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.
The bandit died on the spot after the agitating mob beat him up mercilessly, the OC said.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy.
The law enforcers also seized the truck used by the gang but its driver managed to escape.
The injured robber, Jalal Uddin, 48, was undergoing treatment at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex under police custody.
