'Missing' Pabna Jubo League leader found murdered
A Jubo League leader, who went 'missing' on Saturday, was found murdered in Sharatganj area of Chatmohar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased, Ashit Kumar Bhadra, 30, was assistant relief affairs secretary of the district unit of Awami Jubo League, youth front of ruling Awami League.
Police and family sources said Ashit, also a contractor of Local Government Engineering Department in Pabna Sadar upazila, came out of his house at Shalgaria village in the upazila in the afternoon and then went missing. His wife Mukti Bhadra filed a GD with Pabna police station in the evening.
Local found the body floating in a ditch beside Katgari Bridge near Sharatganj Bazar in Chatmohar upazila yesterday morning and informed the police who went to the spot and recovered the body.
Being informed by Chatmohar police, law enforcers from Pabna Sadar Police Station along with along with the family members of Ashit rushed to the spot and identified the body.
Officer-in-Charge Subrata Kumar of Chatmohar Police Station said injury marks were found in the face of Ashit. Criminals might have strangled the Jubo League leader and dumped the body into the ditch, he added.
Kazi Haniful Islam, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, they are trying to unearth clue to the murder. Ragib Hasan Tipu, general secretary of Jubo League district unit, demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
