Man hurt in BSF firing on Panchagarh border
A Bangladeshi was injured after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on along Kasimganj frontier in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh this morning.
Siddiqur Rahman, 32, son of Akbar Ali from Dakhkhin Kashimganj, was shot in the incident which took place around 10:00am, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent quoting Lt Col Ariful Islam, commanding officer of Panchagarh 18 unit Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
“Several Bangladeshi labourers were collecting stones from the Mahananda river near pillar no. 449 on Kashimganj frontier. At one point they entered the Indian territory,” Lt Col Ariful told our correspondent over phone.
The BSF members then asked the men to leave the place, but the Bangladeshi labourers started throwing stones at the BSF members,” the BGB official said.
After the confrontation, the BSF troopers opened fire on the labourers, he said.
The injured was being treated at Tentulia Upazila Health Complex, the BGB official added.
