Makers, dreamers and innovators throng to ‘Make-A-Thon’
Make-A-Thon, countries first hardware hackathon, took off yesterday. The event started at around 10:30am and was attended by over 80 participants that include teams and individual attendees. Dr. Siddik-E-Rabbani, the head of bio-medical physics and technology at Dhaka University, took the stage next and demonstrated some of the innovative medical equipments he has created, including an ECG machine that can also be used remotely for e-medicine. He also stated that great innovation comes from small things.
Muhaimin Khan, founder of Biz Café, gave his introductory speech, which was followed by Aniruddha Adhikary, Mozilla representative, who spoke about the Firefox OS device and how Mozilla is striving to help more people access the wonders of the internet. Shams, co-founder of TechSchool and Tonar, apprentice of TechSchool, were up next and talked about gadgets, electronic cars and their experience of going to schools in Bandarban where the students have never seen computers before. Farzana Mobin, Executive Business Development, TechShopBd, spoke next.
K.B.M Nasiuruzzaman, executive, Aamra networks; Shahriar Rahman, Managing Editor, HiFiPublic.com; H Al Banna, Chairman and CEO, Ohnish Films; Shakhaout Hossain, founder, Studiowash; and Shawkat Hossain, CEO, BD Venture Ltd, also spoke at the event.
The young innovators then formed small groups and started working on their desired project. The projects ranged from detective bot to smartbelt; from household automation to smart health apps.
